Health of
the uterus important
The reproductive
system helps in the process of reproduction. The female eproductive organs are
located in the pelvic region. It includes the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus
and the vagina. Ovaries are the female sex glands that release the eggs into
the fallopian tubes. The two fallopian tubes connect the ovaries with the uterus.
These are 10 to 12 cm long and the fertilization of the egg take place in them.
This fertilised egg is then passed into the uterus where it attaches itself to
the uterine wall. The uterus is a pear-shaped organ in which the embryo and the
foetus develop. The uterus can expand to 24 times its normal size. It also has
the provision for the nourishment and safety of the developing embryo and foetus.
