Why is a compound different
from a mixture?
An element is a pure substance that
cannot be purified further by chemical processes like heating, cooling , electrolysis
and reaction with the other chemicals .A sample of an element contains only one
type of atom. A compound is a substance that is formed due to the chemical
combination of two or more different elements. A compound is
represented by a formula. Compounds have a fixed composition. The properties of a compound are
different from its constituent elements. The element in a compound cannot be
easily separated .on the other hand , a
mixture is a combination of two more elements or compounds. In mixtures, the
elements or compounds are mixed physically. The substance in a mixture retain
their own properties and they can be separated by physical processes .
