Airports are a necessity of modern life. Everyday, thousands of aircraft land and take off at different airports in the world. Millons of travellers arrive and depart. Airports includes a tower for the air traffic control. Other sevice, restaurant and lounges. Airports, therefore, require huge tracts of land. In most modern cities, this is available only on the outskirts of the city. Apart from this, for

Aeroplanes to land and take off, no high-rise building should be nearby. Parking facilities have to be provided for the aircraft. Large strectches of land on the outskirts of cities meet all these requirements.

What is the atmosphere and useful for us?

5 Earth Atmosphere Layers troposphere, Stratosphere, mesosphere ...

About our Atmosphere - LAADS DAAC

The thick blanket of air surrounding the earth is known as atmosphere. It is a layer of gases surrounding the earth. This layer protect life on the earth by absorbing ultraviolet solar radiation and reducing temperature extremes between day and night. The atmosphere is made of different layers. These layers are- troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere and exosphere. The troposphere is the lowest and the densest layer of the atmosphere. All weather changes take place in this layer. The stratosphere lies above the troposphere. The ozone layer that absorbs the UV solar energy is located in this layer. The troposphere extends from 8 km to 14.5 km above sea level. Though it is the thinnest layer, it contains four-fifths of all air. The meteors entering the earth’s atmosphere burn up in the mesosphere. The thermosphere is the layer that is first heated by the sun . the ionosphere makes radio communication possible due to the presence of charged particles. The artificial satellites orbit the earth in the exosphere.
